Alexanian Carpet and Rug Cleaning is operated by Alexanian Carpet and Flooring, a family owned carpet and flooring retailer. The company was started by Aris Alexanian in 1925, in Hamilton Ontario, Canada. The original store specialized in imported handknotted oriental rugs from around the world. Aris was an intrepid world traveller and went on numerous carpet buying trips to the rug manufacturing regions of the Middle East and India. Since he was one of the few people who travelled to these exotic lands, he often gave lectures and colourful radio interviews describing his journeys
Alexanian's started a cleaning department in the 1950's as a support and service to customers who bought oriental rugs. They also did repairs to oriental rugs.
